Columbia Gas of Ohio will hold a public meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Locke Branch of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library to discuss plans to replace 10,000 feet of gas mains in East Toledo.

Columbia Gas officials said the pipeline project will begin in late April and will involve replacing steel pipe with specially designed plastic pipe under portions of streets west of I-280, north of Starr Avenue, east of Dearborn Avenue, and south of Seaman Road. The pipeline work is expected to interrupt service to residents in the construction zone, but officials said letters will be sent to those who may have their gas shut off.

The project is part of a larger upgrade to area gas lines. Officials said Columbia will eventually replace 19,000 miles of pipe.
