Sheriff’s office examines Hancock Co. fatal crash
4/25/2014VAN BUREN, Ohio — A crash that killed a Van Buren man near the Hancock County community of Van Buren remained under investigation Thursday.
Justin Potteiger, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office. He did not wear a seat belt, sheriff deputies said.
Mr. Potteiger was driving a sport utility vehicle north on Allen Township Road 232 just after crossing State Rt. 613 about 12:35 a.m. when he lost control of the SUV, according to the sheriff's office.
The vehicle then went off the west side of the road and struck a ditch and tree.
