Nat. Weather Service issues notices of windy, dry conditions for area
4/27/2014Portions of northwest Ohio are under weather notices for windy, dry conditions today and then thunderstorms and heavy rain later in the week.
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement alerting residents in Fulton, Williams, Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Allen counties in Ohio and Hillsdale County in Michigan that breezy conditions today, afternoon into evening, will continue to dry dead grass, brush, and leaves.
East to southeast winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts higher than 30 mph at times will cause unsafe conditions for any outdoor burning. The weather service cautions that embers from barrel fires can be carried great distances and cause fires.
To avoid "exhausting local fire resources" residents are urged to wait until the wind dies down before doing any outdoor burning.
In communities including Wauseon, Archbold, Defiance, Napoleon, Paulding, Antwerp, Lima, and Ottawa, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook today into tonight for a slight risk of severe thunderstorms.
In addition, scattered thunderstorms are possible Monday early, with storms possibly redeveloping later in the day.
Thunderstorms could rumble through the region Tuesday as well. Rain from Monday to Wednesday could total up to three inches.
