ARCHBOLD, Ohio — Westbound traffic on the Ohio Turnpike remained restricted to one lane for hours Wednesday after a tractor-trailer fire closed the toll road near Archbold for at least an hour, authorities said.

There were no reported injuries, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol’s post in Berea.

The incident occurred about 5:15 a.m. just west of the State Rt. 66 interchange, a patrol dispatcher said. One of two westbound lanes reopened sometime before 7:15 a.m., the dispatcher said.

The second lane remained closed into the afternoon after the fire rekindled and was extinguished again, state troopers said.

They referred further inquiries to the Ohio Department of Transportation, where a spokesman could not be reached for comment.
