Severe thunderstorms rolled across northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan late today, bringing with them brief heavy rain and wind and at least one report of hail.

Toledo Express Airport got a quick 0.18 inch of rain from a squall line that passed through Lucas County between 4:45 and 5:45 p.m. An earlier, isolated storm ahead of that line brought additional heavy rain to the northern part of the county, while yet another raked Monroe County.

Some cloud rotation was reported with that northerly storm, but there were no tornado warnings or sightings. The first Lucas County thunderstorm dropped grape-sized hail on part of Sylvania, and the National Weather Service said other storms were capable of producing quarter-size hail.

By 6 p.m., the action had died down in Toledo but a new warning was posted for a cluster of storms moving east from the Findlay area. That warning covered parts of Hancock, Sandusky, and Erie counties and all of Seneca and Huron counties.
