A Lucas County grand jury on Friday indicted a West Toledo woman for her role in a fatal drunken-driving crash.

Lora Staton, 34, of 504 W. Alexis Rd. was indicted on a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide for the June 9 crash that killed Vance Popp, 43, of Sylvania.

Police said Staton was driving an SUV and failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign on Recamper Drive at West Alexis Road and pulled out in front of Mr. Popp’s motorcycle.

Mr. Popp was declared dead at the scene. Staton was taken to Toledo Hospital with injuries that authorities described as minor.

Her blood-alcohol level was reportedly 0.12. The legal limit for drivers in Ohio is 0.08.

In 2006, Staton was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty in Fulton County Common Pleas Court to felonious assault for stabbing her boyfriend during an argument.
