WAUSEON -- A single-engine fixed-wing airplane apparently lost power and landed on its top Thursday evening near the Fulton County airport, authorities said.

John Crisp of Sylvania had just taken off from the airport at about 7:45 p.m., according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. Unable to return to the airport, he attempted to land in an open field where the landing gear sunk into the sand and overturned the aircraft, the patrol reported.

No one was injured, authorities said.
