Hundreds of hours of evaluation and work to become certified paid off for The Family Drug Court of the Lucas County Juvenile Court on Friday.

The court was certified by the Ohio Supreme Court, said Lucas Couny Juvenile Judge Connie Zemmelman. The family drug court hears cases referred by Lucas County Children Services and involves parents who are at risk of losing permanent custody of their children.

Lucas County started the certification process about a year ago, Judge Zemmelman said.

“It affirmed that what we’re doing is right,” the judge said. “It feels good.”

The juvenile drug treatment court, which works with youths who have drug problems, is currently going through the certification process.
