The Toledo Community Foundation cited three area nonprofit organizations for innovation and excellence today.

The winner of the Excellence Award in the small organization categories was Water for Ishmael.

The winner of the Excellence Award for large organizations was Cherry Street Mission Industries.

The winner of the Innovation Award was Shared Lives Studio/Lott Industries.

Winners receive a $5,000 grant from the foundation, $1,000 from The Andersons, a full-page ad in The Blade, a video produced with Buckeye CableSystem, and a glass sculpture by Shawn Messenger.

The awards were announced at a breakfast attended by 500 guests at Premiere banquet hall in South Toledo.

Community Foundation President and CEO Keith Burwell announced Giving Tuesday, Dec. 2, a day to give to area nonprofits. He said the foundation will match contributions, up to a limit that was not immediately disclosed.
