Man accused of obstructing drug probe

CLYDE, Ohio — The superintendent of Clyde-Green Springs Schools has been charged with a second-degree misdemeanor of obstructing official business for allegedly hampering a Clyde police drug investigation at McPherson Middle School.

David Stubblebine, 43, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Sandusky County Court District No. 1.

Police responded to the school Dec. 12, after school officials reported they took “a sizeable amount of marijuana,” about 20 grams, from a student, according to a Clyde police report. The report alleges the superintendent didn’t initially provide information about the suspect to police and was “argumentative” when they responded to the school.

The school board on Wednesday approved a resolution authorizing the reimbursement of the superintendent’s legal fees up to $2,000.

The resolution states that Mr. Stubblebine told the board his actions “were performed while acting within the scope of his employment by the board of education as superintendent and in the good-faith belief that such conduct was lawful and in the best interests of the district and its students.”
