The community will have the opportunity to offer their input  for planning a future Metropark in Toledo's north end.

The public can attend an open house for the 70-acre Manhattan Marsh from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria at Chase STEM Academy, 600 Bassett St.

Metroparks Toledo has received a $475,000 federal grant targeting disadvantaged urban neighborhoods to help pay for construction of the park, off Manhattan Boulevard between New York and Suder avenues, north of Summit Street.

Restoration of the marsh is scheduled to begin soon and continue through 2018, followed by construction in 2019. The park is expected to open in fall of 2019.
