  • It was slow going around the Toledo area Wednesday morning, with crashes bogging down traffic and many school districts canceling classes because of snow.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is reporting slow speed alerts on nearly all major routes. Injury crashes were reported on I-75 north near the 280 split, and I-475 west between Douglas and Monroe, per scanner traffic.

Counties in the area declared snow emergencies, and Toledo Public Schools and many other districts called off classes.

In Wood County, a Perrysburg school bus was involved in a crash around 7 a.m. at Thompson and Roachton roads. None of the 13 intermediate and junior high school students on the bus was injured, according to a district spokesman.

Snow is expected to fall again Friday in northwest Ohio. The National Weather Service said between 3 and 5 inches of new accumulation could fall.
