  • Visitors to northwest Ohio have another lodging option at the Shops at Levis Commons in Perrysburg.

Home2 Suites by Hilton held a grand opening Thursday and is taking reservations. The extended-stay hotel is just steps from the Hilton Garden Inn, but Home2 Suites general manager Angela Zimmerman said it's a prime location.

"There is a high demand for guest rooms in this area because of the location," Ms. Zimmerman said. "We have restaurants within walking distance, the movie theater, comedy club, boutique shops. So if a guest is staying 30-plus nights with us, they have plenty to do within walking distance."

Home2's 105 rooms more closely resemble apartments than traditional hotel rooms. Each suite is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, and kitchen set, and all furniture is modular.

The rooms are slightly larger than those at the Hilton, and cost between $89 and $189 a night. Amenities include a saline pool, fire pit and grill area, fitness center, and bar.

Ground broke on the four-story, 70,000-square foot structure in October, 2016, and cost about $14 million, Ms. Zimmerman said.

"We are thrilled to be a part of the Levis entertainment district with this upscale-urban Home2 product," owner Bob Voelker said. "People are already talking about how beautiful the structure complements the complex’s architecture."

The suites are owned by Hollister Hotel, LLC, and managed by Gateway Hospitality Group.

Home2 Suites has about 70 locations, including one in Maumee.
