Kroger plans to redo Lambertville store on Sterns Road

LAMBERTVILLE -- Kroger has submitted preliminary plans to expand and renovate its grocery store on Sterns Road.

Documents filed with the Bedford Township Planning Department indicate the Cincinnati-based retailer wants to nearly double the size of the 68,020-square foot store in an expansion that would be done in several phases.

Preliminary plans call for an initial construction phase to take over 34,860 square feet of space on the east side of the building and build an additional 10,000 square feet behind the store.

A subsequent phase would involve the demolition of occupied space on the west and construction of a 20,064-foot addition.

Final site plans, which have not been filed, must be approved by the township planning commission. A date for the application to be reviewed by the board has not been scheduled.

The grocery chain added a gas station to the store several years ago at Sterns and Secor roads.
