MDOT invites comments on five-year plan

7/23/2018

The Michigan Department of Transportation is soliciting public comments about its draft five-year transportation program for 2019 through 2023.

The program, which includes plans for rebuilding I-75 between the Ohio border and Erie Road starting next year and between Erie and Otter Creek roads starting in 2021, also includes rail, aviation, and public transit sections as well as the highway program.

Highway projects account for $8.2 billion of the $11 billion state officials expect to spend on transportation during the period.

Along with I-75 reconstruction, which includes major bridge overhauls in those two zones, MDOT plans to apply an epoxy overlay to I-75’s bridge over the River Raisin next year and rehabilitate 8.3 miles of U.S. 223 between Rome Road and Industrial Drive in Lenawee County during 2022.

The five-year plan may be viewed at michigan.gov/mdot5yearplan, which features an interactive map with project details.

Comments will be accepted through Aug. 21 via email to mdot-five-year-program@michigan.gov or by letter to Lina Chapman, MDOT Systems Evaluation and Program Development Unit, P.O. Box 30050, Lansing, MI 48909.
