Grand Jury: no indictment in Woodmore football practice injury
Allegations stemmed from 'punitive practice drill'
10/23/2013PORT CLINTON -- An Ohio Attorney General’s Office investigation of events related to a Woodmore High School football practice will not lead to an indictment, according to a decision by an Ottawa County grand jury.
A grand jury met over two days and listened to testimony from 49 witnesses related to a Sept. 10 varsity football practice in which an unidentified student was injured, according to a release from the Attorney General’s office.
A spokesman for the state agency was not immediately available for comment.
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office took up the investigation after receiving a request from Mark Mulligan, the Ottawa County prosecutor. Mr. Mulligan stated in a letter to the state agency that allegations to be investigated related “to a punitive practice drill.”
