A Toledo man who raped a 7-year-old girl faces up to 16 years in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 4 after being found guilty of rape and gross sexual imposition Monday.

Joseph Jordan, 22, of 5624 Darlene Dr. entered an Alford plea to the charges before Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Ruth Ann Franks. In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit to committing a crime, but acknowledges evidence is sufficient for a conviction.

Lindsay Navarre, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, said that on at least two occasions between Aug. 30, 2012 and May 6, 2013, Jordan had raped and inappropriately touched the young girl. As part of a plea agreement, two counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition are to be dismissed.
