Former Fremont man pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter

FREMONT – With his jury trial scheduled to begin on Monday, a former Fremont man pleaded guilty late today to involuntary manslaughter for the 2012 death of his wife.

Jason Risenburg, 38, entered the plea before Sandusky County Common Pleas Judge John Dewey. A sentencing date was not set, but the charge carries a maximum penalty of 11 years in prison.

Risenburg, who has been held in the Sandusky County jail on a $1 million bond, gave his wife, Beth Spaulding Risenburg, 31, a lethal dose of methadone leading to her death April 2, 2012.

He was indicted last January for murder, involuntary manslaughter, and corrupting another with drugs. The other two charges are to be dismissed at the time of sentencing.
