3 indicted in drive-by shooting that wounded woman in wheelchair

A wheelchair near the scene of a shooting at South Avenue and Spencer Street in Toledo on September 14. Three people were indicted Wednesday on charges stemming from a drive-by shooting in which a woman in a wheelchair was an unintended victim.

Three people were indicted Wednesday by a Lucas County grand jury on charges stemming from a drive-by shooting in South Toledo in which a woman in a wheelchair was shot.

Anthony Luce, 19, of the 100 block of Gibbons Street and Koreon Grier, 18, of the 2000 block of Loxley Road each were indicted on a felonious assault charge with specifications alleging they fired a weapon from a car. 

Ciera Aldaco, 20, of the 800 block of Francis Avenue was indicted for tampering with evidence. She is accused of wiping down their car after the incident.

Louis Kountouris, an assistant county prosecutor, said investigators believe Mr. Luce was involved in a fight at a South Avenue gas station, then left in a car driven by Mr. Grier. As the two were driving off, someone threw an object at the car, shattering the rear window.

A short time later, Mr. Luce and Mr. Grier were driving by the Express Food Mart, 1419 South Ave. and fired shots at the individuals involved in the earlier fight, but instead struck Rene Milosh, 51, as she was leaving the store in a wheelchair.

“She was the unintended victim,” Mr. Kountouris said.
