A South Toledo woman is charged with reporting a false hostage situation inside a residence earlier this month.

Heather Campos, 29, of the 500 block of Crittendale Avenue, is charged with making false alarms and inducing panic, both first-degree misdemeanors.

Ms. Campos reported a hostage situation inside a residence in the 600 block of Colburn Avenue in South Toledo on Nov. 9, according to documents filed in Toledo Municipal Court. She claimed a man threatened her with a gun and he was holding her cousin hostage inside the home, court documents show.

The Toledo Police Department SWAT team forced entry into the home, which was found empty, documents said. Ms. Campos statements were found to be false, according to court records.

The incident caused police to utilize multiple resources and forced restricted access for several of the residents in the area.

Ms. Campos was arrested by Toledo police Saturday and booked in the Lucas County jail, where she was later released, according to jail records.

She was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court Monday, where she pleaded not guilty to both charges, according to court records.
