Toledo man convicted in home invasion and shooting case

A Toledo man was convicted Tuesday in the home invasion and shooting of a man last year in the 3200 block of Detroit Avenue.

Robert Neely, Jr., now 18, of the 2100 block of Elliot Avenue, pleaded no contest to attempted murder and aggravated robbery in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

He will be sentenced Dec. 13 by Judge Linda Jennings. 

Prosecutors said Kevin Russell, Sr., 55 was shot five times Aug. 23, 2016, and robbed of money and property by three intruders in his home. 

A 16-year-old Toledo boy previously was found delinquent of felonious assault and aggravated robbery in Lucas County Juvenile Court for his part in the crime.
