A theft charge was dismissed Monday against the former director of Sylvania Area Family Services.

Anita Sanchez-Serda, 55, of Perrysburg was charged with the fifth-degree felony after being accused of taking gift cards from the agency and using them for personal purchases.

Sara Al-Sorghali, an assistant county prosecutor, asked Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Lindsay Navarre to dismiss the charge, citing issues with the evidence.

“My client is relieved that this matter has been resolved,” defense attorney Jerome Phillips said afterward.
