Gibsonburg police charge man in gas station heists

GIBSONBURG, Ohio Village police have arrested a man in connection with robberies at two local gas stations over the weekend.

Gibsonburg police said Alan Carter, 23, was taken into custody about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after a clerk at the Marathon station on Main Street recognized him as the man who had tried to rob the station Saturday night.

Police said Mr. Carter admitted robbing the station, as well as the Port s Petroleum station outside of Gibsonburg on U.S. 20 earlier that day.

Police said the thief got no money in the Marathon robbery but fled Port s Petroleum with about $500.

Mr. Carter appeared yesterday in Sandusky County Court in Woodville on two charges of robbery and one charge of theft; a $10,000 cash bond was set.
