A Rwandan national charged with assaulting a woman in the University of Toledo library faces an additional sexual assault charge in a separate incident.

Valentin Havugiyaremye, 38, of 1931 Scottwood Ave., Apt. E-508 was indicted Wednesday by a Lucas County grand jury on a charge of gross sexual imposition.

According to the county prosecutor's office, the charge stems from an incident at the Anne Grady Center, where Havugiyaremye was employed as an aide.

Havugiyaremye is accused of inappropriately touching a

16-year-old boy who was described as being severely mentally retarded.

The indictment said the incident occurred Oct. 9.

He was fired soon after.

Havugiyaremye also faces one count each of rape and gross sexual imposition for an Oct. 11 incident involving a 20-year-old woman in the university's Carlson Library.

According to university police reports, Havugiyaremye and the woman were using computers at the library when the incident occurred.

Neither Havugiyaremye nor the woman is a UT student.

Havugiyaremye, who was granted political asylum in the United States, is to be arraigned Thursday on the new charge.

His attorney, Gretchen DeBacker, filed a motion asking that his original March 3 trial date be postponed to give her time to prepare for the case.
