Man hospitalized after two-vehicle crash

A Toledo man remained hospitalized Monday after being seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash that also injured another man at a street corner near the central city the night before, authorities said.

Keith Hopings, 51, of Kevin Place, one of two drivers hurt in the crash, was listed in critical condition at Toledo Hospital. Lamin Overton, 32, of Norwood Avenue, the other driver, was released after treatment there, a hospital spokesman said.

The crash occurred at 10:14 p.m. at Upton Avenue and North Cove Boulevard, according to police.

The Overton vehicle was stopped at a red light on northbound Upton at North Cove when it was struck in the rear by the Hopings vehicle. Both vehicles then crossed the intersection, with the Hopings vehicle striking a curb and then a utility pole guide cable, police said.
