Man shot in Central Toledo

Toledo police are investigating a shooting in central Toledo Friday. Marlon Powell, 20, of Freeman Street, was shot about 12:30 a.m. in the backyard of a home in the 2100 block of Joffre Avenue, near West Bancroft Street and Upton Avenue, police said. He told police he was shot while running, according to the report.

He heard about six shots before he realized he had been shot twice, he said.

Toledo firefighters said Mr. Powell was taken to Toledo Hospital. A hospital spokesman said she had no public information about him.
