A Toledo man was killed Sunday morning after being ejected from his vehicle and thrown into the Ottawa River, police said.

Christopher M. Solis, 25, of Berkley Drive was driving a vehicle northbound on I-75 just after 1 a.m. when he approached the Berdan Avenue exit.

The victim’s vehicle went left and up an embankment. Police said Mr. Solis then tried to turn right at an intersection, but struck a concrete barrier and guardrail, causing the car to spin.

Mr. Solis was thrown from the car and into the river, police said.

Witnesses told police the victim was driving recklessly before the crash. It’s unknown if the driver wore a seat belt.
