MONTPELIER, Ohio -- An unidentified motorist died Wednesday night after his car careened off U.S. 20 northwest of here in Williams County. The car hit a tree and caught fire.

Ohio Highway Patrol troopers said the driver was westbound on Route 20 about 10:30 p.m., drifted left of center, over-corrected, and went off the right side of the road before colliding with the tree. Troopers said alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash. The investigation continues as the Williams County coroner attempts to identify the driver.
