Toledo firefighters responding to a medical call ducked behind a vehicle Friday as a man pointed a rifle at them, they said.

William Rogers, Jr., 19, of 711 Dorr St., is charged with inducing panic and is to be arraigned Monday in Toledo Municipal Court.

Firefighters were called to the Greenbelt Place Apartments in North Toledo. When they arrived at 11:40 a.m., a private and a lieutenant said they saw a man looking through a scope pointing a gun at them. The firefighters hid behind a fire vehicle and called police, police Sgt. Joe Heffernan said.

Mr. Rogers hid the gun, which turned out to be a pellet rifle, in the kitchen of 723 Walnut St., police said. The gun was found, and Mr. Rogers was arrested.

Also arrested on warrants were Victor Watson, Jr., 21, of 6072 Elden Dr., Sylvania; and Dana King, 23, of 1201 Collingwood Blvd.
