3rd suspect in vandalism of Bedford Community Stadium football field surrenders

A Temperance teenager surrendered to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office today, the third person to face charges for vandalism of the Bedford Community Stadium football field.

Daniel Rinckey, 17, is in the Monroe County Jail awaiting arraignment for charges related to spreading grass killer on the turf to draw a 100-yard image of male genitalia.

Last week, Julie A. Baumgartner, 50; her daughter; and the Rinckey youth were charged with causing $10,000 in damage to the grass field on Aug. 30. They are charged with maliciously destroying or injuring trees, shrubs, grass, turf, plants, crops, or soil, a felony that carries up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Mrs. Baumgartner also is charged with misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a child. She was arraigned Friday in Monroe County District Court, while her daughter was placed in the county’s juvenile detention facility.

Mrs. Baumgartner has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
