Police identify victim from recent Toledo shooting

Toledo police are investigating a shooting Thursday in the central city. A man was shot once in the leg about 5:30 p.m. Officers found him in the 1500 block of Hamilton Street.
Toledo police are investigating a shooting Thursday in the central city. A man was shot once in the leg about 5:30 p.m. Officers found him in the 1500 block of Hamilton Street.

Toledo police released the name Friday of the victim from a central-city shooting.

Officers responded to a person found shot about 5:19 p.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of Hamilton Street. Police said Alfred Cotton of Toledo told them an unknown person shot him, and gave different statements about where the shooting occurred. He was taken to acquaintance’s residence on Hamilton, according to police.

Authorities said his leg wound did not appear life-threatening. A hospital spokesman said no patient information was available.

There have been 136 people shot this year in Toledo, according to a Blade review of police records.
