  • A West Toledo woman was arrested after police said she attempted to flee after crashing into a Toledo police cruiser.

Shayla Wright, also known as Shayla Ray, 26, of the 1800 block of Brame Place, is charged with failure to comply, a misdemeanor offense, and traffic violations of no operator’s license, failure to stop after an accident, and a red light violation.

Toledo police officers Nicholas Bocik and Jeremy Thomas were in a marked police cruiser traveling southeast on Monroe Street, crossing 17th Street. The cruiser was struck by Ms. Wright’s vehicle when she ran a red light traveling southwest on 17th Street, according to Toledo police.

The crash occurred at about 2:38 a.m. Wednesday.

Ms. Wright failed to stop after the crash, and she fled westbound on Dorr Street, according to an affidavit filed in Toledo Municipal Court.

She was taken into custody at Division and Dorr streets, police said.

The police cruiser was damaged, but there were no injuries from the crash, police said.

Ms. Wright appeared in Toledo Municipal Court Wednesday, where bond for the misdemeanor offense was set and posted at $1,000.
