Two Michigan men accused of kidnapping area woman

  • Two Michigan men are accused of kidnapping a Toledo woman Thursday over money, according to documents filed in Toledo Municipal Court.

    Michael P. Burgess, 28, of Highland Park, Mich., and Dangelo F. Huddleston-Mitchell, 26, of Detroit, are each charged with kidnapping, a first-degree felony. Additionally, Mr. Huddleston-Mitchell is charged with burglary, a second-degree felony.  

    Mr. Huddleston-Mitchell is accused of breaking into Keirsten Reece’s home Thursday in the 5300 Lewis Avenue Thursday and threatening her and her family, according to court documents. 

    The two allegedly then kidnapped Ms. Reece from her residence, court documents show. 

    Mr. Burgess drove Ms. Reece around in his rental vehicle against her will as Mr. Huddleston-Mitchell attempted to obtain money from her, court documents show. 

    It was immediately unknown how Ms. Reece was freed or how police located the two. 

    The pair were arrested by Toledo Police at 5 p.m. Thursday and booked in the Lucas County jail.

    They were each arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court Friday. Mr. Huddleston-Mitchell’s bond was set at  $150,000 at no percent, and Mr. Burgess’ was set at $75,000.

    They are scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing May 25.
