The Toledo Police Gang Task Force Unit arrested a central city man after officers located items in his home consistent with drug trafficking.

Members of the task force were in the area Tuesday when they were requested to assist with a weapons call at a residence in the 3200 block of Glenwood Avenue, Toledo police Lt. Kevan Toney said.

When officers arrived, they saw a person matching the suspect’s description in the backyard of the Glenwood Avenue residence. When officers exited the cruiser, Caprise Arnett, 28, ran into his residence and locked the door, according to an affidavit filed in Toledo Municipal Court.

Mr. Arnett is known by the task force for gang activity, Lieutenant Toney said.

Officers forced open the back door, and Mr. Arnett was placed in custody. Following a search warrant at the residence, three guns, suspected heroin, crack, and pills were seized, police said.

Mr. Arnett is charged with trafficking in heroin and possession of controlled substances, both fourth-degree felonies; trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and obstructing justice, a misdemeanor offense. He has several other drug-related charges pending from April.

He appeared Wednesday in Toledo Municipal Court, where bond was set at $5,000. Mr. Arnett later posted bond.
