A woman was accused of child endangering after a 7-year-old boy accidentally shot and injured his 6-year-old sister Monday at the woman’s Oregon residence, authorities said.

Lisa Peace, 53, the home owner, was charged with felony child endangering, according to Oregon police. The shooting victim was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center with injuries, which police described as not life-threatening.

Police said officers responding to a report of a child shot arrived about 5:56 p.m. at a residence in the 200 block of Van Buren Avenue and found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. She was shot with a .25-caliber handgun that her brother found in a dresser drawer, according to police.

The children were with their father who “was visiting a family friend and went to the bedroom to watch TV,” according to a written statement released by police.
