Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper injured by collision with possible drink driver in Sylvania Twp.

An Ohio Highway Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries in a collision early today in Sylvania Township that the patrol says involved a drunken driver.

Trooper Nicholas J. Konrad, 25, of Toledo was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital for treatment following the 1:10 a.m. collision at Central Avenue and Reynolds Road, according to the report.

Trooper Konrad, assigned to the patrol’‍s Toledo post, was eastbound on Central when a car driven by Michelle Fugate, 42, of Toledo, turned left from westbound Central toward Reynolds and entered his path.

Mrs. Fugate refused treatment at the scene, troopers said. The report said the crash remained under investigation, but it declared alcohol to have been a factor.
