Officials with the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio say an inmate was taken to the hospital after testing positive for tuberculosis.

CCNO officials say they contacted the Williams County Health Department after an inmate tested positive for tuberculosis. The inmate, who officials did not name, was later taken to a Toledo hospital and is undergoing treatment, according to a CCNO media release.

Health department officials are working with CCNO staff to review the health protocol procedures to ensure all precautions are being taken.

Tuberculosis is spread through the air and can result in a bad, protracted cough.
