E. Toledo store joins healthy food initiative

The Dollar Express 3 or Less convenience store, 202 Fassett St., is participating in the Lucas County Healthy Corner Store program. Participating convenience stores offer healthier foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, in low-income neighborhoods where the corner stores are often the main grocer.

This is the third East Toledo store to participate in the program. Two Stop and Go convenience stores on East Broadway already sell fresh produce. There are 22 Healthy Corner Stores in Toledo, with one store in Holland. The program is a collaboration of the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, Live Well Greater Toledo and Healthy Lucas County.
