Nigerian Anglicans in America

Bishop Amos Fagbamiye and his wife, Abike Fagbimiye, will be at the Anglican Church of the Pentecost, 5255 Hill Ave., Suite 20, for the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday, when eight Nigerians will be confirmed as members and be eligible to receive communion in that branch of the Anglican Church. Bishop Fagbimiye's Missionary Diocese of the Trinity, headquartered in Indianapolis, is in the Convocation of Anglicans in North America and evangelizes as part of the Church of Nigeria and the Anglican Church of North America.

Teaching about trafficking

The Cherish All Children committee at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg, will bring attention to a lack of cherishing with a panel discussion Tuesday. In the church's Family Life Center at 7 p.m., victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking will share their stories and offer ways to help children and to raise awareness of abuse and trafficking.

Understanding and compassion

The Center for Religious Understanding at the University of Toledo continues its attention to compassion with the annual Murray/Bacik Lecture in Catholic Studies Wednesday. Prof. Peter Feldmeier, the Murray/Bacik chair at the university, will speak on “The Power of Compassion in a Cold World” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in room 1025 of the Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall, 1910 W. Rocket Dr. A reception will follow. Admission is free, and parking is free in the Law Center parking lot.

Cerullo to Cornerstone

Evangelist Morris Cerullo will be at Cornerstone Church, 1520 Reynolds Rd., at the church's weekly Thursday service at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Cerullo, 83, became a minister at age 15, shortly after his conversion to Christianity while he was growing up in an Orthodox Jewish orphanage, according to his website. He is seen on the Victory Today and Helpline religious TV programs, and his Morris Cerullo World Evangelism organization, not associated with a denomination though he was ordained in the Assemblies of God, offers ministry training, worldwide crusades, and is involved in other religious activities.

Hope in Toledo

The America's Best Hope Conference, a one-day event held at Northview Church in Carmel, Ind., on Friday, can be seen from Toledo with a remote streaming at CedarCreek Church's West Toledo campus, 2600 W. Sylvania Ave., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Among the speakers will be Dan Cathy, the chairman, president, and CEO of Chick-fil-A, and David White of Pure Flix Ministry, the producers of the movie God's Not Dead. Toledo is one of 10 listed cities in the U.S. where the conference will be simulcast. Presented by Truth@Work and Edge Mentoring, the conference supports the building of relationships, and coaching and mentoring emerging leaders. Jim Lange, the Toledo chapter president of Truth@Work, said that the local showing gives “the opportunity to develop our leadership skills and connect with other leaders in our area.” Tickets are $49 at americasbesthope.org.

Missionaries meeting

On Nov. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Keys to the Kingdom Christian Fellowship Church, 3220 Meadowbrook Ct., and Priceless Ministries International host the God's Global Conference for missionaries, at the church. The keynote speaker is Rev. Gary Hayles of Tabernacle Bible Church, Cincinnati. Norah Bagirinka, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide, will also speak. Relational spirituality lecture

The Chidester Lecture Series at Sylvania United Church of Christ, 7240 Erie St., Sylvania, is back Nov. 15 and 16 with an appearance by Annette Mahoney, a psychology professor and director of Bowling Green State University's spirituality and psychology research team. On Nov. 15 from 4 to 5:30 p.m., she will speak on “The Spirituality of Us: Studies on the Psychology of Relational Spirituality,” on the roles of religion and spirituality in relationships. Admission is $15. On Nov. 16 at 9:20 a.m., she will lead a free experiential workshop, offering ways to increase the sanctity of relationships in marriage, parenting, and other intimacy.
