MONROE — A 13-year-old girl has been arrested after a threat of violence against a Frenchtown Township school was traced to her, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

The sheriff’s office had been notified Friday of an anonymous message posted to an undisclosed social-media website in which gun violence was threatened for Monday at Jefferson Middle School, 5102 N. Stony Creek Rd. Investigators received further information Monday linking the message to the girl, according to a sheriff’s office statement, and she was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Youth Center.

According to the statement, formal charges of making terroristic threats toward a school facility are pending against the girl, who was not identified publicly.

Investigators determined the accused did not have the means to carry out the threatened act, deputies said.
