The Dec. 9 article, “Goats have to go, Grand Rapids says,” appeared in the Albuquerque Journal, and I am appalled.

We all know the problems that our country has been facing for a long time now ... drugs, violence, etc.

We also know that owning pets can be extremely beneficial for our heart and souls, and good therapy. Do we think that Justin Held should instead be on drugs for his depression? What harm are the goats causing?

So, this is black and white and a huge no-brainer. There are more important problems in our country that need to be dealt with.

Democrats not the only whiners

The writer of the Dec. 22 letter, “Democrats are never happy,” obviously has forgotten about the incessant whining done by Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, and John Boehner during the eight years of Barack Obama’s administration.

Time for McConnell to stick to his word

The Dec. 21 article, “Trump, GOP Celebrate $1.5T U.S. tax overhaul,” quotes Sen. Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.): “If we can’t sell this to the American people, we ought to go into another line of work.”

Well said, Mr. McConnell. I wish you good luck in finding a job.
