The Sandusky County seat of Fremont is named for the first Republican presidential candidate, John C. Fremont, and it is home to the first presidential library ever, established to honor Rutherford B. Hayes, the Republican who made his home there. The current state of the GOP in Sandusky County is an embarrassment to this heritage.

School is back in session and so is widespread concern about the daily safety of our children. On Wednesday Woodmore schools and the entire village of Gibsonburg were on lockdown while police searched for the assailant who stabbed and seriously injured a Gibsonburg police officer.

HEALTH-CARE costs remain one of the greatest challenges facing American families, employers, and state governments. Prescription drug prices continue to strain household budgets, and pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, have become an increasingly important focus of reform efforts. Patients deserve affordable medications. Employers deserve a competitive marketplace. Pharmacies deserve a level playing field. And policymakers have a responsibility to ensure the system works as intended.
