Marcy Kaptur stands up for veterans, and she is responsible for the World War II Memorial now in Washington. She has been active at working for the protection of Lake Erie. She gives good advice to legislators with her strong moral compass. Also, she works hard for the middle class instead of for billionaires. We in northwest Ohio are very lucky to have such an advocate.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Back in the 1960s, people sought spiritual gurus to help them center themselves and find meaning. Later, we used “guru” to mean any kind of expert. Peter Drucker, for example, was the “management guru.”

I feel compelled to write this letter having known Msgr. Jerome Schmit for 40 years as a beneficiary of the CYO organization in many capacities. I played, coached, and refereed basketball games under the supervision of the CYO organization headed by Monsignor Schmit. I also had the privilege of serving on the Board of Athletic Control with monsignor at Central Catholic High School for a number of years. Based on my association with the late monsignor, I can attest that I have not known anyone in northwest Ohio who has done more for the youth of the area than Monsignor Schmit.

Back in the day my late wife and I had a clear first choice for travel vacations. We didn’t drive across country to Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon. We didn’t go to an all-inclusive resort in the Poconos.

The vicious ads against Dr. Amy Acton are as misogynistic as they are misleading and fail to outline any of Vivek Ramaswamy’s policies. As a physician and director of the Ohio Department of Health, it was her job to protect us from a pandemic that killed over 1.2 million people in our country, 7.1 million worldwide, with estimated totals between 15 million and 35 million deaths.
