It is pointless to pursue worldly goals because they disappear with the last breath. King Solomon, the wisest human being who ever lived, came to this conclusion. President Trump, by trying to remove leaders from the world to eradicate evil, is pursuing “worldly goals.” Evil has been in the world since Satan tempted Eve to eat the forbidden apple. One president is not going to remove the evil. It reminds me of one of my sons playing with Play-Doh. When he pushed down on one part of the Play-Doh, the other part of the Play-Doh would rise up. Same thing with trying to eradicate evil from the world. Just as we press down hard on one source of evil, evil raises its ugly head in another place.

Congress has finally done the right thing to erect a plaque honoring the Capitol Police and other local officers — five years after a mob stormed the Capitol in the attempt to overthrow a valid presidential election.

FOR THE second time in 20 years America has been dragged into a Middle East war by a so-called trusted and dependable friend, Israel. In the intervening years we seem to have forgotten the Iraq war that that cost the United States $2 trillion. Six hundred thousand Iraqi civilians and 4,598 U.S. personnel died in that useless conflict.

Eighteen years ago, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh urged his conservative listeners to cross over and vote for Hillary Clinton in Ohio’s presidential primary. He called it “Operation Chaos.” The strategy was to prolong the Democratic contest and boost the candidate he believed would be easier to defeat in November.

For too long, the economic conversation about the Midwest has skimmed past the undeniable reality that’s right in front of us: Toledo is emerging as a global player. And last week, by hosting the inaugural O Canada! — Oh Ohio! Trade & Investment Seminar, we proved it.
