Bedford Hall of Fame inductions Oct. 20

Bedford will induct four former athletes, a coach, a team, and a graduate who gained success in NASCAR at a ceremony Oct. 20 at the high school. They will also be honored at halftime of the Oct. 19 home football game.

The inductees are:

Lindi Bankowski Sallach (2001 gradaute), a two-time all-state first-team volleyball player and member of two state championship teams (1998, 2011).

Stacey Heams (1988), basketball, volleyball; team MVP as freshman; Monroe County player of the year as a senior; played at the University of Michigan, captain of 1982 Big Ten title team.

Jess Hurley (1992), football, wrestling; member of two state champion wrestling teams and All-American; member of GLL football title team.

Jim Long (1975); wrestling; became a crew chief in NASCAR for some of the sport's top drivers leading Hendrick Motorsports R&D team from 2006-11.

Jill Treuhaft; outstanding teacher/coach category; taught physical education from 1969-99; school's first volleyball coach (64-17 record in five years and won a district championship)

Doug Winkler (1973), football, baseball; All-GLL in both sports; all-state centerfielder; played minor league baseball.

1977 wrestling team coached by Bill Regnier; won state championship; set many records including best individual win-loss record and dual meet record.
