    In a famous Saturday Night Live skit, Christopher Walken once said, "I've gotta have more cowbell." Clearly Walken has never visited Davis Wade Stadium. Mississippi State's home field will come alive with the sound of cowbells when the Falcons visit Saturday. This week BG's practices have featured cowbells blasting on the speakers to prep the Falcons for problems besides hearing loss: The din makes play-calling and defensive adjustments harder to make, and snap counts can be missed.

    MICHIGAN WOLVERINES
    Don't blame Brady Hoke if he wants to handle the Jake Ryan situation with kid gloves. Don't blame the linebacker if he has any hesitation about returning less than seven months after suffering a catastrophic knee injury. It could be worse. Leading up to Saturday's game at Penn State, Hoke could be dealing with a Jadeveon Clowney-like situation.

    OHIO STATE BUCKEYES
    Ohio State's spread-covering defensive touchdown on the final play of its 40-30 win against Northwestern shifted an estimated $100 million from sports books to gamblers. For the love of Las Vegas and their national title hopes, the Buckeyes need to begin phasing out the suspense. They have navigated the just-win-baby meat of their regular-season schedule and arrived at the creamy, just-win-by-50 filling.

    UT ROCKETS
    I probably could not have gotten away with writing this a year ago, so I suppose I'll cop out and write it now. Toledo — even with its eight-game win streak, its upset victory over Cincinnati, and its ascent into the Top 25 for the first time in more than a decade — was just OK. The 2012 squad was a 9-4 team trapped in a 7-5 body. This year's 3-3 team has work to do to match last season's win total. However, the Rockets are better.
