    Believe it or not, there are grumbles that BG needs a new coach.Look, I get that BG fans are unhappy with four straight losses to UT. But the grumbling ignores the rebuilding job Dave Clawson has done. Fact: If you look around the MAC, winning teams build their records mostly against losing clubs. For example, Buffalo's six wins have come against teams that are 8-40 this season (.167), and that has done nothing to kill the buzz surrounding the Bulls.

    MICHIGAN WOLVERINES
    Michigan State simply is not a balanced team. The Spartans need to score touchdowns as much as they need to stop them from being scored, and MSU has been pretty good at doing that thus far this season. Michigan State's offense is finally catching up with its defense. Defense is what's cut it for the Spartans thus far, and will be the prime factor on Saturday when they host Michigan.

    OHIO STATE BUCKEYES
    We have the same backward reliance on style points, and Urban Meyer can't win. Win close, your team falls in the polls. Win big, you're a monster. Though suggestions OSU piled on against Penn State are nonsense — Meyer pulled his starters early — a BCS beauty pageant that relies on humans wrongly says it should have.

    UT ROCKETS
    Athletic director Mike O'Brien knows quickly if he likes a coach. He extended Tricia Cullop after one year. Tim Beckman, Tod Kowalczyk, and Matt Campbell got new deals by their second year. O'Brien just hitched his ride to Campbell, and the upcoming years should be fun times.
