KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Jordan Walker finished with 32 points as the Western Michigan Broncos beat the Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team 85-71 in a first-round Mid-American Conference tournament game Tuesday at University Arena.

With the victory, the sixth-seeded Broncos (17-14) will face No. 3 seed Ball State in a quarterfinal Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

Breanna Mobley added 22 points and 10 rebounds for Western Michigan, and Deja Wimby had 21 points and 12 assists.

The Falcons (11-19) were led by Carly Santoro’s 22 points and seven rebounds. Andrea Cecil finished with 16 points, and Sydney Lambert added 10 points and six rebounds.

Bowling Green hung tough throughout the first half, holding the lead at several points. A Santoro layup with five seconds left before intermission tied the game at 40.

Haley Puk’s 3-pointer with 8:48 remaining in the third quarter put the Falcons up 48-45.

But that was the last lead they held, as Western Michigan went on a 17-5 run to end the period and take a 62-50 lead to the fourth. Walker had 10 points in the spurt, and Mobley had five.

Bowling Green never was able to cut the margin under double digits again.

The Falcons were outrebounded 36-25.
