Greg Christopher, Bowling Green State University's new athletic director, has multiple goals for the program, including solving attendance issues and bringing in new sports and new facilities, he said yesterday during a taping of The Editors television program.

But as for the BGSU football schedule, he envisions more home games in the future than 2006's current slate of four at Perry Stadium.

"If our 2007 schedule holds together as it is now, we'd have six home games and two in September," Christopher said.

In discussing facilities improvements at BGSU, Christopher said the university cannot forget about the ice hockey program, which won a national championship in 1984. The Falcons currently play in the antiquated BGSU Ice Arena.

"It's a sport where we could legitimately win a national championship again," Christopher said.

Christopher said he was not worried BGSU football wouldn't meet the NCAA attendance requirements this season after missing it last season, but added, "It will always be a challenge."

BGSU has one less sport than many of the Mid-American Conference schools, so Christopher said he wants the school to add another women's sport. Which sport will be determined by assessing the landscape of high school sports in Ohio and Michigan.

Christopher was questioned by Tom Walton, Blade editor.

The Editors will air at 9 tonight on WGTE-TV, Channel 30, and 12:30 p.m. Sunday on WBGU-TV, Channel 27.
