Efficient Woodside improving in senior season

Star QB’s efficiency numbers have gotten better so far this season

University of Toledo quarterback Logan Woodside turned in a season for the ages last year with 4,129 passing yards and an NCAA-best 45 touchdowns.

A quick glance at some statistics so far this season shows that Woodside has improved in several categories.

His passing yards per attempt are up from 9.9 last year to 11.0 this year. His adjusted passing yards per attempt are up from 11.1 to 12.3. And his pass efficiency rating is up from 183.3 to 185.4. All of those numbers from last year were tops in the Mid-American Conference as are all of his numbers this season.

His completion percentage is slightly down this year (65.9 percent) from last year (69.1 percent).

So this shows that Woodside remains very efficient when throwing the football and his talented group of receivers is helping him make the most out of every throw.

After throwing just two touchdowns in the first two games of the season against Elon and Nevada, Woodside corrected that with a six-touchdown performance in a home win against Tulsa.

It remains to be seen if Woodside can add to those numbers when the team faces Miami on the road on Saturday. The Hurricanes defense will be the toughest that Woodside has ever faced as the starting quarterback at Toledo. We’ll see if he can add to this season’s stellar numbers.
